Fix Driver Errors to Get a Fast Responding Computer
Before knowing how to fix driver errors, you must understand what these errors are. Driver errors are common problems that affect the functioning of a computer as well as the way it runs. There may be numerous driver errors in a computer system hampering its performance and speed. In most cases, driver errors occur if the registry of your computer is not maintained suitably.
Driver errors appear within the computer registry as the registry stores information about the devices and the drivers associated with it. Actually, the registry of your computer may contain erroneous information like entries of disabled devices and accessories. Now at Windows start-up, unnecessary device drivers get loaded interfering with the real drivers that are required. This is what causes driver errors.
With the many entries and combination of settings, that includes the correct as well as incorrect leads to conflicts in the operation of Windows operating system. Due to such errors the computer might perform slowly, in some cases the computer might also crash, freeze and lead to driver error.
How To Fix Driver Errors
Now, in order to fix the driver error you have to use the Device Manager. Take the help of the following steps:
- First, get to the Start button
- Open the Control Panel
- Get into the Performance and Maintenance section and then choose System
- After opening the System Properties, select the Hardware tab
- Click the Device Manager
- Here you can see the list of hardware
- To expand the list of associated with the device click on the plus sign
- In the General tab you would get the option for troubleshooting the device
- To view the details of the driver of a particular device like related files and DLLs look into the Driver Details
- With the help of Update driver, you can update the driver through a CD or search for updated drivers on the Windows Update website.
- In case the update fails, use the Roll Back Driver button. It will take the system to the state from where it had failed
- If you want to disable the device, go to the action menu on top of the screen and click the disable option
- Further, if you are not using the driver it would be better to uninstall the driver using the uninstall option.
